Sheikh Jamal Saleem
|
Born in Nablus in 1958 to a religious family.
He went to UNRWA schools fro his primary education, and finished his secondary education at al-Salaheiah school in Nablus in 1977.
He traveled to Jordan for his university education where he graduated in Islamic studies from the University of Jordan in 1982.
He completed his Masters degree in Islamic studies at Najah University in Nablus in 1992.
He worked as an Imam in the Mosques of Nablus and the surrounding villages as well as a teacher at the Secondary Islamic School in Nablus.
He participated in numerous seminars on both political and religious subjects.
He participated in many committees such as the Committee for Islamic and National Institutions in Nablus.
He is a founder member of the League of Ulama’ (clerics) of Palestine.
He is a founder member of the Higher Coordination Committee, which was founded at the start of the Aqsa intifada.
He participated in the meeting between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority in Cairo in 1994.
He was detained by the Israeli authorities several times in 1975, 1989, 1990 and 1991.
He was one of the 400 activists that the Israelis exiled to South Lebanon in 1992.
He published two papers “the Guidance of Islam” and “Some of the teachings if Islam”, his MA dissertation is on Martyrdom in Islam
