Born in Balata Refugee Camp near Nablus on 25 February 1960.
Married, the father of 3 children.
Graduated in Accounting and Business Administration.
He was the spokesman for the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
He was the chief spokesman for the movement during the talks held between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority in 1994.
He was on of the 400 Hamas deportees to South Lebanon in 1992.
He was detained more than 8 times by the Israelis.
He was detained several times by the Palestinian Authority since its arrival at Nablus.
